Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jnr, or Shatta Wale as he is known to his fans, is a multiple award winning dancehall artiste and one of the most influential acts of his generation. After performing for a while under the stage name Bandana, he took a break from music and returned to the scene in 2013 with his current moniker. He immediately took the industry by storm, driving attention to himself not only with his undeniably catchy tunes, but also by the sheer force of his personality and his combative nature.
He has a deeply loyal fan base who refer to themselves as part of the Shatta Movement or SM Army. He has won many accolades, 2014 Artiste of the Year at the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards and has featured in ETV’s Top 100 Influential Ghanaians List. He swept the board with eight awards at TV3’s 2019 3Music Awards. He is also an actor and entrepreneur and has his own music label, SM4Lyf.
