Thomas Teye Partey is a Ghanaian defensive midfielder who plays with Atlético Madrid in the Spanish La Liga. He was born in Odumase Krobo in Ghana’s Eastern Region and began his career with the local side, Odometah FC.
His obvious talent could not be missed and he was soon signed on by Atletico Madrid, who placed him on their reserve side, featuring him only sporadically. In March 2013, he was featured in a game against Real Sociedad and impressed so much that he became a regular in the team’s league campaigns. International duties for Mr. Partey began in May 2016 when he joined the Black Stars in the final qualifying game for the 2017 Cup of African Nations.
He has since featured regularly for the team and was one of its most prominent players at the 2019 CAF Cup in Egypt. He was named as one of Africa’s Best XI Team at the 2018 Aiteo CAF Awards held in Senegal on January 8, 2019, and was honored with a plaque by Atletico Madrid for his 100th appearance for the club.
