Janet Amponsah is an American-based Ghanaian athlete that is making the African nation proud on the field with her illustrious performances. Born in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region, she emigrated to the United States as a child where she attended the Middle Tennessee State University.
In 2015, she won the highly coveted Female Athlete of the Year at the Liquid Sports Ghana Awards, a feat she repeated in 2018. While she missed the 2015 World Athletics Championships in China due to visa issues, she was in action at the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, where she competed in the 200 meters and the 4 x 100 meters relay events.
In 2018, she won silver at the African Senior Athletics Championship in the 100-meter competition. She has also held the flag of Ghana high at the African Championships, World Junior Championships, Commonwealth Games, All-Africa Games, and World Championships.
