Kweku Awotwi is an Executive Vice President of Tullow Oil plc. Educated at Yale University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering and at Stanford Graduate School of Business where he had his Master’s in Business Administration, he has long been a player in the energy and extractive sector in Ghana. After stints as Manager of Business Planning and Analysis at Kaiser Aluminium and Chemical Corporation and at GE/RTC, both in the United States of America, he joined Ashanti Goldfields Company Limited, now Anglogold Ashanti, where he served as Managing Director of Strategic Planning and New Business Development. He went on to establish the Triton Group as well as the African Precious Metals Limited.
Between 2003 and 2004, he transitioned to the public sector, taking on the role of Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Volta River Authority (VRA), the state owned energy provider. In February 2018, he was appointed the Managing Director of Tullow Ghana Limited, which had initiated the first commercial production of oil in the country.
Mr Awotwi’s strategic insight is highly sought after and he has served on several boards, including those of Stanbic Bank, Multmedia Group and the Volta River Authority (VRA). In his current position, Mr Awotwi also sits on the Tullow’s Executive Team, where he contributes to shaping and influencing the global operations of the oil giant.
