Hanna Serwaa Tetteh is the current Director General of the United Nations in Nairobi, former Minister for Foreign Affairs, former Member of Parliamentand a distinguished lawyer. She had her secondary school education at the Wesley Girls Senior High School and later went on to obtain her Bachelor of Law degree (LLB) at the University of Ghana. She went further to the Ghana Law School and was called to the bar. After her National Service at the International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA), she worked with the Ghana Agro Food Company (GAFCO), a food processing company, as a legal adviser.
She also held administrative and managerial positions within GAFCO until she went into politics in 2000, serving a term in parliament as MP for Awutu Senya constituency for the National Democratic Congress (NDC). Hanna Tetteh was elected a National Executive Member of the NDC and later as National Communications Director for the party in 2008, helping to manage its communication strategy for that year’s election.
She served as Minister of Trade and Industry and Minister for Foreign Affairs during the two terms of the party’s tenure. She also served as a member of the National Security Council and Armed Forces Council of Ministers. She has two children.
