Israel Laryea is a voice-over artist and a broadcast journalist with Multimedia Broadcasting Ltd., owners of leading news outlets, Joy FM and Joy New TV.
Born in 1974 in Osu, Accra to James Laryea and his wife Constance Laryea, Israel had his secondary school education at Okuapeman Senior High School, where he had his GCE Ordinary level certificate, and then at the Accra Academy for his sixth form education. He holds a Bachelor of Arts (Marketing) degree from Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA). Before joining the Multimedia group, Israel worked for TV3, first as a production assistant, and then as a news anchor where he distinguished himself creditably.
He strings for two international news channels, CNN and BBC, in addition to his permanent job. Among other high points of his career, Israel had the honor of moderating the vicepresidential and presidential debates in 2008 between the late Professor John Evans Atta Mills and the then Presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo Addo. He was also the winner of CNN’s Multi-Choice award in 2008.
