Dr Kwame Kyei is the Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board of Unity Group of Companies. He was born in 1961 in Accra, but hails from Agona Wiamoase in the Ashanti region.
When in 1992 Dr Kyei started his dealings with the Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation (BOST) Company as a transporter, he was setting a stage for a business that would one day become a key player in Ghana’s economy.
Dr Kyei went on to establish his first petroleum product retail outlet in Accra. He later received an Oil Marketing License from the Energy Commission and founded Unity Oil Company Limited in 2002, a company which runs over thirty filling stations across the nation. Among his other businesses, Dr Kyei owns Nation Services Company Ltd, a Bulk Distribution Company (BDC); Sports Hotel in Kumasi, Unity Air, Light Television, Vison 1 FM and Wisdom FM.
He was voted the Best Petroleum and Gas Entrepreneur in 2013 and has received an Honorary Doctorate from the International Ministerial Council of Europe - an affiliate of the University of Copenhagen, Denmark. He is also the current Chairman of Asante Kotoko Football Club.
